Poison Rose Mitten Clue #1

I read in the Norwegian Handknits: Heirloom Designs from Vesterheim Museum that Oct. 14th is Mitten Day. In the days when Norwegians marked time by carving on a wooden calendar stick, a mitten indicated October 14. Apparently, the annual event of getting the mittens out of storage, was an ordered–even ritualized– event that took place on this day no matter the weather.

So in honor of Mitten Day, I have whipped up a Mystery Norwegian mitten pattern just for you. And to keep it fun – and because I am not a very fast knitter – I am going to dole out the pattern in tiny, poison apple bite-sized pieces.

For the Poison Rose Mitten Poison Rose Requirements

2 Skeins of fingering weight yarn (400+ yards each, just to be safe) in contrasting colors.
US#0-2/2-3mm (depending on your hand size) Needles
Waste yarn, tapestry needle

Here is your first clue – Poison Rose Cuff

Enjoy!
